The Story Behind Go So Deep
Go So Deep is Brie Leigh’s exploration of love, illusion, loss, and self-reclamation. Framed through the lens of Narcissus and Echo, the project traces a journey out of narcissistic entanglements and into truth, grief, and ultimately, healing.
Blending indie folk, rock, and synth textures, the album features layered vocal harmonies, synth-driven atmospheres, guitalele, and rhythmic percussion—creating a sound that feels both intimate and expansive, meditative and emotionally raw.
Songs like Vampire (Born Into the Friendless) confront the isolating pull of destructive patterns, while Mt. Diablo in the Spring, Words Are My Feet and Desert Rain Laughing reflect the stark beauty of facing reality and standing alone. In contrast, I Dream About You holds space for tenderness, joy and connection.
At the heart of the album, Go So Deep (Calypso) and Where Did You Go My Love? reckon with the loss of a partner whose love cut through darkness—transforming grief into something sacred and enduring.
This is a story of breaking cycles, choosing truth, and finding autonomy through pain. Go So Deep ultimately points toward renewal: a return to self, to love, and to a more conscious way of living.
Biography:
Brie Leigh (writing as Bridgette Leigh) is a New York City–based singer-songwriter whose music blends poetic storytelling, meditative influence, and a deep connection to nature. Born in Hollywood, California and raised in Sacramento, her journey has taken her across continents—from extended stays in Hawaii and Brazil to the vibrant artistic landscape of NYC, where she has spent the past decade shaping her creative voice.
A graduate of Hunter College with a Bachelor’s degree in English, Bridgette began her artistic path in poetry, a practice that organically evolved into songwriting in the summer of 2024. Her work is deeply informed by years of meditation and chanting, which she has practiced since the early 2000s. This spiritual foundation, combined with her love of the natural world—oceans, forests, mountains, and animals—infuses her music with a reflective, atmospheric quality, as heard in songs like Mt Diablo in the Spring.
In 2025, Bridgette published her debut poetry chapbook, My Good Karma with Animals (Bottlecap Press), further establishing her voice as a writer. Later that year, her debut Christmas single received airplay on New York’s WFUV public radio, marking an exciting milestone in her emerging music career.
Bridgette’s artistry is shaped by profound life experiences, including love, loss, and resilience. After the passing of her husband in Brazil, she navigated grief while confronting earlier personal challenges, ultimately finding healing through art. Relocating to New York became both a personal and creative rebirth—one grounded in therapy, community, and a relentless commitment to expression.
Alongside music, Bridgette has worked in writing and acting, appearing in stage productions while sustaining herself through full-time work. Her music stands as a testament to transformation—an intimate exploration of healing, spirituality, and the search for meaning through sound and story.
At its core, Go So Deep (Calypso) holds the weight of love and loss, transforming grief into something enduring.
